Verdict
Happy Hippo is the easiest vendor for a cautious first order. Powders come in 1 oz bags from about $9.99, capsules in 100-count bottles from $19.98, and if a product disappoints you have 60 days to ask for a fix. It ranks below Kats Botanicals and Golden Monk because we could not verify what its lab reports contain, and small bags cost more per gram than bulk.
Is Happy Hippo legit?
- AKA GMP listing: Happy Hippo Herbals appears on the AKA vendor list in September 2026, and its guarantee page says it is "certified by the American Kratom Association's GMP standards."
- Age requirement: The site states you "must be 21 years or older to purchase kratom."
- Shipping limits: The shipping policy names the states and localities it will not ship to, which is a sign it tracks local law.
The AKA GMP program involves an annual third-party audit, but the AKA says it does not endorse product quality.
Is Happy Hippo safe? Lab testing
Happy Hippo's homepage says "all kratom is lab-tested" for heavy metals, contaminants and microbial impurities. Its guarantee page adds that each batch is alkaloid tested and that COAs are available. The footer links to a Lab Reports (COA's) page.
When we checked, we could not load the report contents from that page, so we cannot confirm which lab does the testing or exactly what each report covers. That is why Happy Hippo scores 6/10 on lab transparency, below vendors with a verifiable batch lookup such as Super Speciosa or Kats Botanicals. Before you order, open the COA for your product and check it against our lab report guide.
Testing checks for contamination; it does not remove the risks the FDA warns about, including liver toxicity, seizures and substance use disorder.

- Free shipping: USPS Priority on orders $99+.
- Handling: orders typically ship within 24-48 business hours; the guarantee page describes same-day shipping by 3 PM MST on weekdays.
- Refunds: within 60 days of delivery. Unopened items can be refunded to the original payment method or as store credit. Opened or used products can be exchanged for a similar replacement.
- Process: contact support before sending anything back.
- No-ship list: Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Vermont, Wisconsin, Sarasota County FL, Union County NC, Denver CO and San Diego CA. Several newer state bans are not on that list; see kratom legal status by state before ordering.

What we could not verify
- COA contents. The COA page didn't show report details when we checked, so we can't confirm the lab name or panel.
- Exact capsule fill. The site gives roughly 500-600mg per capsule rather than a single figure.
- Up-to-date no-ship list. The shipping policy we read did not include Connecticut, Kansas or Tennessee, which banned kratom in 2026. We don't know whether orders to those states are blocked at checkout.
