The safest place to buy kratom online is a vendor that's listed on the American Kratom Association's GMP Qualified Vendor list, publishes batch lab reports and sells only to adults 21+. Of the eight US vendors we track, Kats Botanicals, Golden Monk and Happy Hippo score highest on those checks. Below is the checklist we use, then each vendor with a short reason to pick it. Facts were checked September 25-28, 2026.

The AKA's GMP Qualified Vendor list names vendors that passed an annual independent audit. The AKA notes that it doesn't endorse product quality itself, so treat the list as a minimum bar, not a guarantee. Seven of our eight vendors were on it in September 2026; Super Speciosa wasn't.
Look for a certificate of analysis (COA) you can match to the lot number on your package. The best setups let you look it up yourself: Kats Botanicals and Super Speciosa have batch lookups, and Golden Monk and MIT45 post a PDF per product. A COA "available on request" (Kraken) or no public COAs at all (Kona, Left Coast) is weaker. Concentrated 7-OH products are the target of a DEA temporary scheduling action announced in July 2026. We exclude any vendor that sells them, and none of our eight had 7-OH products when we checked. See what is 7-OH.
Most vendors sell only to adults 21+. Kratom is banned in ten states as of September 2026, plus some cities and counties, and California treats kratom products as illegal to sell (state guide). Several vendors publish the places they won't ship to:

These lists don't match each other or current law. Happy Hippo's, for example, didn't include Connecticut, Kansas or Tennessee, which all ban kratom in 2026. A vendor shipping to you isn't proof that kratom is legal where you live. Checked September 28, 2026.
Credit and debit cards work at most vendors. Some offer a discount for other methods: Golden Monk gives 15% off for e-check or ACH, Happy Hippo gives 20% off for crypto and 10% for mobile check, and Left Coast gives 10% off for Bitcoin. Kats takes cards, ACH and Sezzle, but not checks or prepaid cards (help page).
Return terms vary a lot. Happy Hippo gives 60 days and replaces opened products. Kats has a 30-day guarantee with a prepaid return label. Golden Monk and MIT45 refund opened products if 85% is left, and Kona if 80% is returned. Kraken and Left Coast refund only unopened, heat-sealed products.

Buying online lets you check a vendor's lab reports and policies before you pay, and compare prices across stores. Local shops let you skip shipping, but you have to verify the product in person. Our kratom near me guide covers what to check in a store.

It depends on where you live. As of September 2026, kratom is banned in Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Vermont and Wisconsin, and in some cities and counties. Vendors won't ship to banned areas, but their lists can lag behind new laws.
Most major vendors sell only to adults 21 and older, and many states set 21 as the legal minimum. Kats Botanicals, Golden Monk, Happy Hippo, MIT45, Kraken Kratom, Super Speciosa and Kona Kratom all state a 21+ rule on their sites.
At most of the vendors we checked, yes. Several also give a discount for other payment methods: Golden Monk 15% for e-check or ACH, Happy Hippo 20% for crypto, and Left Coast Kratom 10% for Bitcoin.
