Verdict
Kats Botanicals earns first place because it scores well in every category of our method rather than dominating one. It is AKA GMP listed, states a 21+ rule, shows no 7-OH products, has one of the broadest plain-leaf catalogs, keeps entry prices low and has a return policy that includes a prepaid return label. The one clear weakness is lab detail: the COA lookup works by lot, but the COA page does not say which labs do the testing or which tests are in the panel.
Is Kats Botanicals legit?
Three things point to an established, compliant vendor:
- AKA GMP listing. Both "Kats Botanicals" and "Kats Kratom" appear on the AKA's GMP Qualified Vendor list as of September 2026. The AKA program requires an annual independent audit, though the AKA notes that it does not endorse product quality itself.
- Age gate. The site states its products are "for use by individuals 21+ only."
- Published policies. Shipping cutoffs, free-shipping thresholds and the satisfaction guarantee are stated plainly on the homepage.
Is Kats Botanicals safe? Lab testing
Kats Botanicals has a COA page where you can find batch-specific results by scanning the QR code on the package or entering the lot number. That puts it ahead of vendors that only send COAs on request, such as Kraken Kratom, or that have no public COAs, such as Left Coast Kratom.
What the COA page does not do is name the laboratories or list the tests. The site says products are "thoroughly third-party tested," but you need to open a specific report to see whether it covers alkaloids, heavy metals and microbes. No lab report makes kratom risk-free. The FDA warns of risks including liver toxicity, seizures and substance use disorder.
